| Customer Reviews: Kaboom!, Atari 5200 June 8, 2010 The DSi Critic (Sacramento, California) Bombermen are so evil! Think about it: one member of the humanoid species is wiping out brothers and sisters with explosives. Well, life is unfair, as opposed to Paul Willson's Kaboom! for the 5200 SuperSystem. It is a standard catch-and-throw program, and one with high repeat value. Either play solo or with a 2nd player, the choice is up for grabs. There is even a selectable mode where one player plays Escapee Bill while the other controls a triplet set of water buckets. Kaboom!'s objective is to catch every resplendent firecracker laid into mercy by the wrecked hombre. Missing just one results in losing a bomb-catcher. Lose trice the bomb catcher and enter your three high-score initials... an encouragement to play just one more time. Bill is sneaky, and will leap off a crag to ensure that you are left with a low-score. And as an added bonus, he SMILES after killing you! Just charming, and none other than a brilliant concept. Implemented controls utilize the CX-52 Analog Controllers, and I have no problem with that. As a matter of fact, it is rather satisfying to adjust my joystick to its most comfortable position. Nonetheless, it would have been a nice alternative had Activision programmed Kaboom! for Trackball innovation too. Missed opportunity so to speak; that would have made this PCB cartridge worth more the merrier. At least the 1812 Overture is an entunement to my abled earlobes. Winner of the 1982 Arcade Alley Award, Atari 5200 Kaboom! serves up to the living room.
